Between 2001 and 2017, around 30000 women in The Netherlands were treated with the Essure device for sterilisation.
This experimental device has caused health complaints in some of these women, including:
Belly ache
Lower back pain
Tiredness
Mood swings
Joint pain
Abnormal blood loss
Skin irritation
Of course, not all women treated with Essure are suffering from these side effects, but an unknown amount of women have these complaints, but are unaware that these may be caused by this medical device.

Gisteravond was er een uitzending van Pointer: "https://pointer.kro-ncrv.nl/geestelijke-gezondheidszorg-moet-op-de-schopâ. Daarin gesprekken over een nieuwe benadering van psychisch lijden en welke ondersteuning daar voor nodig is.
Interessant genoeg ook van belang voor de complementaire zorg. In een artikel over deze benadering en de experimenten die momenteel plaatsvinden (https://www.psychosenet.nl/gem/) krijgt de complementaire zorg (de âalternatieve geneeswijzenâ) een volwaardige plaats.
Het hele idee gaat er vanuit dat een meerderheid van de contacten met mensen rond psychisch lijden zich afspelen buiten de GGZ, waaronder ook de complementaire zorg. Wat betekent dat dit ook in het denken over interventies moet worden meegenomen. Uitgangspunt is dat de client kan kiezen. Ook voor alternatieve geneeswijzen, die volgens het artikel voorzien in de wens van veel mensen om meer lichaamsgericht, spiritueel en dier-geleid te kunnen werken aan verandering.
Acupuncture LIVE during gynecological oncology surgery in ISRAEL !!!
Acupuncture has been found to reduce pain and anxiety in patients with cancer of gynecological origin (including ovarian and uterine cancer). This was published in a new study in the medical journal CANCER.
This is a joint study for the integrated medicine unit in the oncology service at Klalit's Lin Medical Centers and the Carmel Hospital under the direction of Prof. Eran Ben Aryeh and the women's unit at the Carmel Medical Center under the direction of Prof. Ofer Lavi. The research was conducted with the funding and support of the Cancer Society.
The study published these days in the leading scientific journal CANCER examined the effect of integrative medicine treatments that combine complementary medicine as part of the oncological and surgical treatment. In the study, the effect of a unique therapeutic approach that combines touch techniques (acupressure) and relaxation before surgery and acupuncture treatment (acupuncture) during surgery was examined. The combined treatment was offered to the patients while ensuring a sequence of treatment starting from waiting for surgery in the women's ward and through the various treatment stations while coordinating with the surgical, anesthesiologist, nursing and auxiliary staff.
The results of the study show a significant reduction in anxiety among patients who were treated with contact and relaxation methods before surgery, when the addition of acupuncture during surgery provided an additional benefit of reducing pain after surgery.
